“CARINA NEBULA” ANTIQUE LANTERN

$350.00

Brass lanterns like this were originally used on cargo ships during the 1800’s. Later, reproductions were sold as souvenirs to commemorate particular fleets. This lantern is wired to illuminate an image of the “Cosmic Cliffs in the Carina Nebula,” taken by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope in 2022. Printed on a special backlit material, the image is layered between plexiglass and affixed with an industrial adhesive. The top opens to another image, so you can peer down into the lantern image. Looking underneath reveals an acid-washed, copper bottom. Antique Lanterns are one-of-a-kind works of art and unlike anything else you will find elsewhere.
