Brass lanterns like this were originally used on cargo ships during the 1800’s and later sold as souvenirs to commemorate particular fleets. This lantern illuminates an image of the Rosette Nebula, a cloud emitting mostly hydrogen gas and dust roughly 5,200 light years from earth.
