This vintage fruit box is wired to illuminate “View of the Golden Bend in the Herengracht” by painter Gerrit Adriaensz (Dutch, 1638-1698). During the 17th c., Amsterdam expanded its canal system; and in this painting one can see a few empty lots under construction in a neighborhood that was soon to become the city’s most wealthy.
